CHARACTER INFORMATION

Name: Saïx
Age: Unknown, but probably somewhere in his mid to late 20s
Subject taught: Astronomy. Mhm.
Canon: Kingdom Hearts
Canon point: “Why… Kingdom Hearts… where is my heart?” Not yet dead, after he’s defeated by Sora.

Personality:
Nobodies, by definition, are individuals who used to be human but lost their heart. Not the thing pumping blood in your chest, though – this version of the heart is more spiritual than anything else. It is the part of your being that controls emotions. Therefore, a being who has lost their heart has logically lost their emotions, as well. This in itself makes Saïx an oddity – but what makes him almost unique is that he doesn’t try to pretend otherwise. Standard practice for Nobodies (at least, those still capable of higher thinking) is that they take the memories of feelings from their past, ‘complete’ lives, and project these feelings onto their newly-emotionless faces. It’s a form of coping, apparently. Saïx doesn’t do this nearly as much as the other Nobodies, though, meaning he often comes across as cruel and spectacularly hollow – which, unsurprisingly, he is.

This doesn’t mean that he doesn’t have any aim, however. Quite the opposite. Saïx lives to be in control of everything, and he is massively ambitious to boot. Even though he is Number Seven in Organization XIII (the senior members being the first six), he is commonly considered Number One’s right hand man, well surpassing most of the senior members in terms of the Superior’s trust. As a matter of fact, Xemnas only shows up when Organization meetings have to take place; otherwise, it is Saïx running the whole operation, assigning everyone their daily missions and keeping the group relatively in line. The fact that Xemnas trusted him so much is a testament to not only his work ethic, but his remarkable skill in manipulation. Like most other people in the Organization, Saïx has a serious case of chronic backstabber’s disorder, and for virtually the entirety of his time as the Organization’s number cruncher, he was making plans with Number Eight to overthrow the group and seize control from Xemnas, and all through the series, he has been playing everyone for fools.

It seems to be in Saïx’s nature to be cruel to others – it would be easy to say that he does so for his own amusement, but of course, there is no amusement to be had. When he locked up a young woman named Kairi and her friend Sora came to him looking for her, he pushed the normally-bullheaded Sora to kneeling on the ground, begging that he let Kairi go… and then refuses. He has a zero percent tolerance rating for any kind of inefficiency, and has been known to forcibly track others down when he needs something from them, and has been known to double-cross his oldest friends without a second thought once they gather too much baggage to be useful to him.

Saïx has been known to be hugely obsessive, almost doggedly so, and will go to extremes to achieve his usually-overambitious goals. Throughout the series, practically only one thing about the man has remained consistent – his deepest wish, to regain his heart. Everything he has done, every back he’s stabbed, every puppy he’s kicked mercilessly across the street, has been so that he could inch ever closer to Kingdom Hearts, which he believed could restore him to his full self. Of course, it’s always possible to have multiple meanings, and Saïx could very easily be called ‘manic’ in more ways than one.

When he goes into battle and summons the giant club-type weapon called Lunatic, Saïx changes completely. The scar on his face, previously large enough to be noticed but not so large that it mars the beauteous visage, has now stretched so that it reaches way up into his forehead and straight across his cheekbones – and in fact, his entire face has been twisted and distorted, eyes glowing yellow and mouth pulled into a snarl. Indeed, he becomes very much a beast in the heat of battle, made ever worse by the presence of the Moon… realized why it’s called Lunatic yet?

Name: Lunatic

Form: A large, heavy sword-like thing; it’s called a ‘claymore’, but it’s very clearly not.

  • Berserk (and absolutely no one is surprised)
  • Rules Lawyer

Lost memories:

In a few hours, the sun will rise.

This particular phrase had been uttered from many the mouth of peculiar students, apparently referencing a popular satirical program from their homeworld. Saïx utterly failed to understand what could be so funny about it, but then again, he had the same problem with a lot of things, and he was sure that if he asked the student would probably respond with something like, "You need to see it in context." Perhaps with a few derogatory comments thrown in, depending on the student and time of day/night.

If there was one thing Saïx had learned from running the Organization's scheduling, it was that people -- especially young ones -- needed their sleep, or else they would be grumpy and uncooperative. For this reason, he decided that it was in his best interest to allow the students some nights to spend in their own beds, just to keep them happy enough to not submit complaints to the administration. Besides, spending all day and all night with those damned hooligans would be simply too much for him to take. So in light of the fact that he ran an astronomy class, which required the occasional astronomical body to be observed, he had been forced to schedule certain nights where the students would come in at night as well as during the day; the class preceding it would usually be spent with a review on how telescopes worked, because heavens forbid the students remember anything from last class.

He was sitting in his classroom in the middle of the night, looking out a telescope as his students were going to in a couple of days. He had remembered the skills from when he was a child -- a Somebody -- and had done all of this for fun. It was good to see that aside from the given technological advancements from one world and time period to another, the telescope had remained essentially the same... and he remembered how to use it. Saïx wasn't a very old man at all, but soon after arriving here, he had been aware of certain lost memories; including his old name, which had 'distressed' him greatly.

Nothing to be done about it now, he supposed, moving the telescope ever so slightly so that this world's moon came into view. The moon... always, he had been drawn to it in particular. No other celestial body had calmed his nerves quite like that particular pale rock in the sky. Even his power as a Nobody, which for others was something like Fire or Time, was called Moon -- it had given him weak telekinetic ability, which of course was gone now. And... something else. Another memory gap, he guessed. This whole situation was not at all something he approved of, but... again. There was nothing to be done. He had slogged through other unsavory situations for much longer than it would take for him to regain his memories, his powers, and get out of here. It only took a bit of planning and the right distra--

"What is it?"

His tone was unusually irritable for answering a simple knock at the door. Leaving his telescope, Saïx reached it in time for it to open on a student, holding a stack of papers. "Um, sir, I have that essay that I forgot to finish, I stayed up all night writing it--"

"I'm not accepting it," he said, quite simply. "You failed to complete it on time, and disobeyed curfew to bring it here, besides. Go back to bed."

And he shut the door.
